The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has been functioning since 1996 with 3 years of Undergraduate program. The Post graduate program was started in 2008. Department has five laboratories with well sophisticated instruments to meet the needs of UG & PG program. We have qualified and experienced faculty members. Our department mainly focuses on Fashion designing and Textile industry. The department is providing the quality and value based education. Practical and research skill are being developed to motivate the students. Industrial visits are also being arranged by the department for students to acquire industry oriented prospect.

Mission
The course aims at enabling the students to keep pace with the rapid advancements in the industry by providing an opportunity to obtain an insight into the actual working of the industry by way of Fashion shows and Exhibitions organised by the students themselves, Industrial visits and Internship in textile mills and fashion houses.

Objectives
Creativity is the base of fashion. The main objective of the Costume Design and Fashion department is to inculcate the students to make their ideas into a reality, without losing sight of the concept in the process.

  • B.Sc. Costume Design and Fashion

To become a costume designer, enrolling at a bachelor degree programme in “COSTUME DESIGN AND FASHION” can help students to obtain the knowledge and skills which is necessary to work in the field. In addition to learn about the history of costumes and clothing construction, students are taught to analyze character traits to determine the costuming choices.

Eligibility:  A pass in +2 (Academic / Vocational Stream) conducted by the Government of Tamilnadu or any other examination accepted as Equivalent by the Syndicate of Bharathiar University

  • M.Sc. Costume Design and Fashion

Students have hands-on exposure to sewing, dyeing, printing and recent trends in fashion. It's about capturing someone's essence, representing life in a particular time or place, and making a statement about performers that inspires fantasy and distinguishes them from the rest of us. The duration of the course is two years and it is career orienting.
 

Eligibility  Candidate with an overall average of B Grade or equivalent (55%) marks in B.Sc. Textile Science & Apparel Design. The students with the following undergraduate degrees viz., B.Sc. Apparel Design, B.Sc. Textiles & Clothing, B.Sc. Fashion Design, B.Sc. Fashion Apparel Design, B.Sc. Composite (Home Science) are also eligible.

2024 - 2025

        The Department of Costume Design and Fashion organized a Handloom Fashion Show for all the UG and PG students on 02.08.2024 at AbdulKalam Arangam. The event featured with Mrs. Sharmila Ram Anandh, a Renowned Educationist, Founder and Philanthropist, as the Resource Person. A panel of esteemed juries, including Mr.S.Aadhavan and SoundharyaKarthi from DreamZone, Erode, and Ms.GowriSaravanan and Ms.PriyaMurali from Kovai Makkal Sevai Maiyam, Coimbatore, adjudged alongside Mrs.SharmilaRamAnandh. Our students showcased their creative talents by presenting exquisite handloom costumes, accessories and ornaments. Totally 48 students are participated, Ms.T.Swetha (III- B.Com CA) and Mr.D.Naveenkumar (III- B.Sc CDF) are selected for the Handloom Fashion Show Finals which will be held on 7th August 2024.
    
  

            The Department of Costume Design and Fashion celebrated the 'BCAS Fashimo Inauguration cum Freshers' Day Celebration on July 26, 2024, at Bharathiar Arangam. The Resource person was Mr.P.Venkatesh, Designer and Merchandiser in Young Style Clothing, Tirupur. The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing a new beginning. The speaker discussed about the future of designing and its importance. Also keynotes the big fat wedding ceremony as a case study, highlighting its significance in designing a dress and its business strategy implementation. 
 

2023 - 2024

   The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a One day Industrial visit to Chencoptex, Rithik Tex Chennimalai on 27.02.2024 (Tuesday). Our students were visited Co-operative Handloom Weaving Society, Powerloom & Airloom Unit.The actual aim of the visit is to boost up the chances for the students to get the placements and to develop the skill sets required from them to fit into the industry.

   

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion organised a Handloom Outreach Programme cum Exhibition for two days on 07.03.2024 and 08.03.2024 at Vivekanandar Arangam. Our College Management Members, CEO Thiru.NKKP.Naren Raja, Madam CEO Tmt.Om Kaari Muthu, Principal Dr.P.Vanathi and Resource persons inaugurated the Exhibition by Lighting the Lamp. The Resource persons Dr.S.Paramasivam, Junior Technical Assistant, Department of Handlooms, Erode and Mr.G.SaravanaPandian, District Inspector of Cottage Industries, Erode quoted the importance of Handloom and Khadi. This Exhibition featured a stunning array of handloom products, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our nation. Nearly 800 students from all the departments were aware about handloom products and benefited.    

 

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion of Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode has conducted an Entrepreneurial Skill Enhancement Program on Hand Embroidery for the multi disciplinary Students on 20.02.2024 (Tuesday) at Bharathiar Arangam. The Resource Person was Ms.K.Abirami, Proprietor and Professional Makeup Artist, Abi Bridal Stylish, Erode. Students learnt Hand Embroidery which inculcates all to generate income and to promote entrepreneurship among them. Nearly 80 and above students were participated enthusiastically.    

Department of Costume Design and Fashion have organised a one day Industrial Visit to Sri Sendhur Murugan Fabrics – Knitting Unit and to Flower Embroidery – Computerised Embroidery Unit to Uthukuli, Tirupur on 29.01.2024. Working Principle and Advanced Techniques were clearly demonstrated which helps to learn the real time working environment of the industry. Totally 33 students of B.Sc CDF and M.Sc CDF were participated along with 5 faculty members.

Department of CDF has organised Adobe Illustrator Hands on Training on 01.09.2023 at Computer Lab V. The Resource Person was Mr.S.Santhosh B.E, Designer and Desktop Support Engineer, ETS Academy, Erode. The students were practiced the tools and also created their sketching into vector arts. This leads to improvise their digital creativity which is an on-time need in our garment and fashion industry. Nearly, 50 Students from CDF and Computer Science department were participated.

 

    

Department of Handlooms and Textiles of TamilNadu has organised a Handloom Awareness Programme on 24/7/2023 (Monday) at IRTT Government Engineering College Erode. Thiru.R.Gandhi, Minister of Handloom and Textiles created awareness about Khadi and Handloom products. This program sensitizes our students about handloom industry and also aimed at reviving our handloom heritage of our country. Totally 43 students of B.Sc CDF, M.Sc CDF and I-B.Sc Microbiology were participated along with 3 Faculty members.

2022 - 2023

The Department of CDF organized “CELEBRITY MAKEOVER” Workshop on 16.09.2022 at our CDF Lab-I. The resource person was Mr C. Dhandapani, Professional Makeup Artist and Model, DP Makeup and Designer Studio, Chennai. Totally 50 Students of I, II, III B.Sc CDF and I M.Sc CDF students were participated. He demonstrated the Celebrity Makeup look in the cine field and explained about the product details and tools used for grooming. 

  

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion have inaugurated CDF Association “BCAS FASHIMO 2022” and also celebrated Fresher’s Day on 25.08.2022 at Bharathiar Arangam. The inauguration was started with lighting the Lamp by Ms.K.Abirami, Proprietor & Personal Stylist of Abi Bridal Stylish, Erode. Cultural events like Group Dance, Solo Singing, Lucky Corner, Fun Games etc, were organized by our association members and celebrated enthusiastically.

  

2021 - 2022

Department of Costume Design and Fashion has celebrated Farewell Day for final UG Students on 10.06.2022 at Bharathiar Arangam. The Faculty members were conveyed their hearty wishes for their bright future. The moment of leaving a college after the end of academic life is full of mixed emotions for the students. 

  

The Department of CDF organised Cosmetic Formulation Workshop on 19.04.2022 at our CDF Lab-I. The Resource Person was Ms.K.Madhumitha, Cosmetic Formulator, Designer cum Entrepreneur, Look Book and Erode. Totally 50 students of our department were participated.  

   

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised intra-department competitions among our B.Sc CDF students on 04-05-2022 at CDF department. Events like Face Painting, Mahanadi, Hair-Do and Bridal Make-Over competitions were conducted.

  

Certificate Course on Adobe Photoshop was organized by Costume Design and Fashion department from the month of December 2021 to January 2022 for 30 Hours Duration. The course trainer was Ms.R.Sudha B.Tech IT of IFC InfoTech Computer Education, Erode. 41 Students of III-B.Sc CDF were participated and practiced in order to gain E-skills like Image Editing and Rendering, Graphic Design, Digital Art, etc which is the real time need of textile industries.

A Memorandum of Understanding is made on 16th December 2021, by and between Department of Costume Design and Fashion, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode and IFC InfoTech computer Education, Erode. The vision of the MOU is to provide Skill development courses to the students in order to prepare them for their own expectations regarding placements, future career and to intend skill development activities among them.

2020- 2021

The department of Costume Design and Fashion and Center of Excellence Tirupur has organized an online live webinar entitled “Industrial Engineering 4.O” on 30.10.2020. Mr.Shankararagavan the day’s convenor explained about the benefits of Industrial Engineering and motivates our students and other college participants. Followed by him Mr.P.Pravinkumar, Elite Consultancy Tirupur, the day’s speaker delivered his speech about the Industrial Engineering. This online webinar helped all the participants to get an idea about the Industrial Engineering and its features. Vision of the webinar is to reach the technological developments in textile industry.

 

The Department of Costume Design And Fashion organized an online webinar entitled “A Tradition And Culture Of Textiles And Fashion-A Revocation On The Past Eventuality. on 20.06.2020. Mrs.Archana, Assistant professor, Department of Fashion Technology, Jamal Mohammed College, Trichy acted as a resource person. She highlighted the features and specialities of the Indian Tradition and Culture about the past and its revocation to our students. This event shows how the fashion changes and impact created among them.  This webinar stimulate all the participants to think about the revolution on the costumes of Indians from the ancient period to present era. In the feedback session most of the participants were delivers their wonder about our ancestors designing skills. Totally 51 candidates were attend this webinar.

2019 2020

Department Of Costume Design And Fashion conducted a state level workshop entitled “Mobile Fashion sketch.” Along with BCAS Alumni Association on 27.05.2020. The day’s resource person Mr.J.P.Karthikeyan our CDF Department alumni, Designer in Inba designing studio, Erode. He demonstrated about the apps used for fashion sketching through mobile. In this workshop students and other participants were got awareness about fashion sketching techniques by the mobile. And also he explained about online sketching methods and its benefits. Where 168 candidates participated. The outcome of the program is pragmatic, because doing fashion sketching through mobile is new occurrence to everyone. 

 

Department Of Costume Design And Fashion has organized a one day workshop on “Make Up Artistry” resource person Mr.K.Rajkrish international make up Guru and celebrities makeup artist was held on 28.02.2020at our u.g seminar hall this workshop was conducted for  112 students of cdf and 4 faculty members .

 

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised Designer Contest to explore the design concepts of the student’s inspiration which entitled FASHION ATTIRE 2020” on 12-02-2020 at AbdulKalam Arangam. The Resource person was Mr.S.M.GURURAJ, Costume Designer & Creative Head, Motif Designer Boutique, Erode. Our Final year B.Sc., CDF students were competed and presented their creative works in their vibrant Costumes, Accessories and Ornaments. This helps to commit themselves into the field of designing in a best way. Our students of III-B.Sc.,(CDF) Mr.R.Adhithyan got the Best Designer Award and Ms.R.Mounika got Best Creativity Award.

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a one day “INTRA DEPARTMENT COMPETITION” - FASHION ELITE -2020    on 31.01.2020. Our students participated in various competitions like Mehandi, tattooing, face painting, cookery, creative art, logo design and exposed their competitive talents. Winners are awarded with trophies and certificates.

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organized a One day Industrial Visit to Ahill Apparels Exports Pvt Ltd (PRODUCTION UNIT), Uthukuli on 04.01.2020. Students have visited This industrial visit gives greater clarity about various production methods to students as they can practically see how these concepts are put into action. They gained thorough knowledge right from the fabric inspection with fully automated and also manual production methods including pattern making, laying, cutting and sewing with the whole assembly line. Totally 125 students of I, II and III B.Sc Costume Design and Fashion were visited to get insight of on the internal working environment of the company along with 2 Faculty members of the department. This visit sensitize students to the practical challenges that export organizations face in the business world.

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organized a One day Industrial Visit to SRI MURUGAN TEXTILES (IMPORTED KNITTING AND HEAT SETTING DIVISION), MERCURY PROCESSING (DYEING UNIT) and S.V KNITS (APPARELS PRODUCTION), TIRUPUR on 20.12.2019. This One day industrial visit helped the students to practically understand the Knitting process of various structures in Circular knitting and Flat knitting, Dyeing, Knitwear Apparel manufacturing process. Our students of I and II B.Sc Costume Design and Fashion were visited along with 2 Faculties of the department.

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised the “ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON FABRIC PAINTING” on 26.09.2019. Mrs.R.Kalpana, Thurika Kalaikoodam, Coimbatore acted as the resource person. 42 students were participated and benefited. They learnt about the different techniques in painting through this function.

         

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organized a One day Industrial Visit on 24.09.2019 to SRI VINAYAGA MILLS (Fabric Finishing Unit), Gangapuram, Erode and JEEVA PRINTERS, Villarasampatti, Erode. This Industrial visit implements the practical knowledge along with the guidance by the industrial persons. From this visit our students will learn about various Fabric Finishes and Printings used in industries. Our students of I, II and III B.Sc Costume Design and Fashion were participated along with 3 Faculties of the department. 

 

               

 

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has arranged the students Alumni Interaction Programme on 20.9.19 for the III UG students, Mr.C.Krishna Moorthi, Alumni of our college acted as a chief guest. 39 students were participated and interacted with the alumni.

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, has organized a Guest Lecture on “Career Opportunities in Textile Industry ’’on 04.09.2019.by Mr.S.Sathish   Kumar, Manager, Ms.S.Susmitha ,Faculty of Fashion Design , Dream Zone, Erode. They discussed about the creative skill training and various job opportunities available in different sectors of textile industry.  I, II & III – B.Sc CDF students of our department were participated and benefited. 

          

 

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has arranged a two days Educational tour on 18.08.2019 and 19.08.2019 to Cochin and Wonderla. II UG and III UG students have visited the places along with the faculty members of our department.

 

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, celebrated National Handloom day cum Handloom expo on 07.08.2019 at CDF Laboratory. Our college principal, treasures and administrative officer visited and encourage and motivated about the handloom products. This celebration is to create awareness on the use of handloom products .The students and staff members from all the other departments were visited the expo.

          

On behalf of Department of Costume Design and Fashion, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, has organized Workshop on “Textile Designing Softwares” on 31.07.2019 at UG – Seminar Hall. Mr.S.Sathiyaraj, Executive cum Trainer of C-CUBE Technologies, Tuka Centre, Erode was acted as the Resource person. He demonstrated recent softwares using in textile industry and its advancements. He demonstrate the importances of CorelDraw, PhotoShop, Tuka-CAD, WonderWeave, Fashion Illustrator softwares. The 2nd & 3rd B.Sc CDF students participated and benefited from this workshop.

          

The Inauguration of CDF Department Association, “BCAS FASHIMO“ was held on 26th July 2019 at UG Seminar Hall. The inauguration was initiated with lighting the lamp by Our Principal, Treasurer, Chief Guest, Head of the Department, and I-B.Sc Student. Our III-B.Sc CDF Student, M.Hariharan welcomed the function. Ms.S.P.Mythily, Head of the Department introduced the Chief Guest, Inaugural Address given by our Principal Dr.R.Shunmughan. The chief guest Mr.M.Dharmalingam, General Manager, Lakshmivel Spinning Mills Pvt Ltd, Perundurai, has given more valid points about the textile industry and its opportunities. Finally, Ms.J.Kowsalya of II B.Sc CDF Student proposed Vote of Thanks.

           

The Department Of Costume Design And Fashion, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, has organised a programme for the appreciation for the topper of II B.Sc CDF and III B.Sc CDF held on 17.07.2019. It has planned to praise the outstanding performance of the students in the university examinations  were held on April 2019. Mrs.S.P.Mythily, Head of the Department of Costume Design and Fashion, welcomed our Principal and participants to the function. Dr.R.Shanmugan, Principal, Bharathidasn College of Arts and Science, presided over the function. S.Sneha (II B.Sc CDF) and V.Porselvi (III B.Sc CDF) are the class toppers and were awarded by this programme. 

          

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion celebrated ‘Fresher’s Day 19’ to welcome new students on 04.07.2019. Ms.S.P.Mythily, CDF Head, welcomed the fresher’s and guided the students towards a successful future. The First year students were actively participated in skilful events like Quiz, Puzzles conducted by II & III year students. It’s an opportunity for know their seniors and to show their talents and experiences.

          

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion, has organised a Guest Lecture cum Workshop entitled “FUNDAMENTALS OF APPAREL DESIGNING” for Two days on 02.07.2019 and 03.07.2019, by Mr.M.Maran, JANUSRI Designer, Erode acted as the Resource person. Nearly 49 students of I-B.Sc CDF were participated and practically learnt about the care and maintenance of sewing machines and basic construction methods.

“Weaves” Expo Visit – TEXVALLEY 

Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a one day visit to SOUTH INDIA’S PREMIER TEXTILE FAIR - “WEAVES” at TEXVALLEY, TEXTILE MALL, Erode  on 07-12-2018 (FRIDAY) Nearly 53 students of II & III year B.Sc CDF along with two faculty members Ms.R.GEETHADEVI & Ms.S.P.MYTHILY participated. They got an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about the recent advancements in textile machineries and its accessories. They had direct interaction with various exhibitors, textile entrepreneurs and buyers. It promotes employment opportunities.

Technical Symposium on Eco-Friendly Textiles for A Sustainable Development & Fashionova’18

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised A TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM ON ECO-FRIENDLY TEXTILES FOR A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT & FASHIONOVA’18. The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr.S.KARPAGAM CHINNAMMAL  Asst.prof & Head Dept.of Costume Design And Fashion,Chikkanna College of Arts Science,Tirupur. Nearly hundred students from more than 10 colleges took part in the FASHIONOVA’18 Competition  namely Face Painting ,E- Designing and Fashion Show. Winners were awarded prize & certificates in the valedictory function.

                                                                                       

Industrial Visit - Dyeing Unit
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised A ONE DAY INDUSTRIAL VISIT to DIVYAR Garments Pvt Ltd, Tirupur for UG II & III year students along with our faculty members Ms.S.P.MYTHILY & Ms.P.YamunaDevi on 20-07-2018 (FRIDAY). They get an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about the field of Dyeing Techniques and its process. It provides an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices.

2017 - 2018
Our Fashion club has organised with our III-B.Sc CDF and II-M.Sc CDF students JIGSAW PUZZLE event for 70 students of I-B.Sc CDF and II-B.Sc CDF students on 20/1/2018, at CDF Printing Lab. These activities boost-up the overall brain activity of the students and also increase the concentration of the students.

Fashion Club Activities – 2018
Department of Costume Design & Fashion organised a club activity through Fashion club with II-B.Sc CDF and II-M.Sc CDF students have organised TRY TO WIN – Riddle solving event for 66 students of I-B.Sc CDF and III-B.Sc CDF students on 5/1/2018, at CDF Printing Lab. It is considered as an Universal Art and the most valuable benefits of riddle solving for students is that it helps to improve the critical thinking and IQ scores. 

 

Educational Tour

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a two days education tour for all UG & all PG nearly 50 students along with our faculty members to ALLEPPEY from 18.08.2017 &19.08.2017 at KERALA.

International Conference on “Fashion Techniques And Trends For New Era” & Fashionova’17
Department of Costume Design and Fashion Organised an International Conference on “Fashion Techniques and Trends for New Era” & Fashionova’17 on 01.08.2017 at Abdul Kalam Arangam. The Chief Guest of the programme was Mr.M.R.KARTHIKEYAN, Expatriate Lecturer, Industrial Chemistry Department (Textile Specialisation), Arba Minch University, Arba Minch Campus, Ethiopia. Around 185 Students and 20 Faculty members from 19 colleges took part in the conference. Winners were awarded with certificates and shields at the end of the programme.

Terracotta Jewel Making Workshop
Department of Costume Design and Fashion has conducted a one day workshop “Terracotta Jewel Making” was held on 03-07-2017 at CDF department - Draping lab. This workshop was conducted for all the UG and PG students of CDF department by the CDF faculty members. They learnt the methods and techniques of jewel making and clay baking. The students were participated curiously and prepared decorative Neck chains with pendant, Earrings, etc.  This workshop enhances the student’s creativity which will develop their co-curricular skills.

“Students PowerPoint Presentation - Enhancement Activity”
Our Department of Costume Design & Fashion has arranged a “POWERPOINT PRESENTATION” for CDF students as a student’s enhancement activity on 30.06.2017. Our CDF Department III-UG and II-PG students were presented their topics like “Innovation in Textiles”, “Types of Weave” and “Fashion Portfolio Presentation”. The outcome of the presentation programme is to motivate the student’s individual presentation skills in and off the Dias.

Certificate Course on Illustration – Fashion Figure Sketching & Painting – 2018
Certificate programme on “ILLUSTRATION – FASHION FIGURE SKETCHING & PAINTING” at our department.  89 members of the B.Sc CDF students were participated in the duration of 30 Hrs which was held from the month of July to September 2017. Different types of techniques were demonstrated by R.KALPANA, Fashion Illustrator of Turika Kalaikoodam, Coimbatore. This programme creates job opportunities among the students in the field of fashion designing and also in the field of interior decors and motivates to become a business man during their period of study.

2016 - 2017
Fashion Attire - Designer Contest- 2017 
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised “Designer Contest – FASHION ATTIRE 2017” on 21-02-2017(Tuesday) at UG Seminar Hall. The Resource person was Ms.S.NARMADHASUBRAMANIAM, Costume Designer & Proprietor of Vibhaa Stitching House, Erode. Our Final year UG students and First year PG students were participated and presented the creative talents in their Costumes, Accessories and Ornaments. Our students, T.S.Tajmila of III-B.Sc(CDF) got the Best Designer Award and G.Pavithra of  I-M.Sc(CDF) got Best Creativity Award.

Consultancy & Extension Activity
Our Department of Costume Design & Fashion organized a One–Day “Consultancy Service” on “Hand Embroidery Stitches”. It was a free camp for the rural women of Bhavani area (Erode) on 14-02-2017. 30 members of women and men were participated. Nearly 8 types of hand embroidery stitches was demonstrared and taught by our department faculty members namely, Ms.S.P.Mythily, Ms.K.Abirami & Ms.P.Yamunadevi. This programme enhances and aims to cause awareness on the various job opportunities women can avail themselves off.

Extension Activity on Fabric Painting & Fashion Illustration 
An Extension Activity was organised by the Faculty members Ms.B.V.Revathi and Ms.K.Abirami and II-M.SC Students of CDF Department from Bharathidasan College of  Arts and Science, Erode on 07th January 2017. The Government Hr. Sec. School – Thippampalayam, Chennimalai. XII-STD (VOCATIONAL GROUP) Students nearly 50 members were participated (Including Boys & Girls) learn a lot about “Fashion Sketching and Fabric Painting with different strokes”.  The school students felt useful and inspired to get creative artistic skill. This Extension activity exposes the school student’s talents in Fabric Painting strokes and Sketching techniques.

Placement Details - On-Campus Interview – September 2016
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised an On-Campus interview for our Final year B.Sc CDF and M.Sc CDF on 26-09-2016. The Recruitment persons are from SCM Garments Pvt. Ltd., Tirupur. Totally 06 members got selected.

A National Level Technical Seminar and Fashionova’16  
A National Level Technical Seminar and Fashionova’16 held on 21-09-2016, The Resource Person was Ms.J.S.SUBASHINI, Assistant Professor of Knit-Wear Design Department, NIFT, Kannur, Kerala. The first session was carried out by the resource person regarding the advancements in the textile and apparel industry. The next session was carried out by the events like poster presentation and fashion show with different themes. Finally, the Best Designer award and Best Model was presented by the Resource Person.

A One Day Workshop on TUKA CAD & Wonder Weave Software
A One Day Workshop on TUKA-Cad & Wonder Weave Software was organised by the Costume Design and Fashion Department from Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode on 16.08.2016. The Resource person was Mr.S.Sathiyaraj from C-CUBE Technologies, Erode. Our B.SC CDF - 63 students, M.Sc CDF - 12 students were participated and practiced the shortcut methods and different techniques in the software’s.

One Day Workshop on Fashion Illustration
A One Day Workshop on Fashion Illustration was organised by the Costume Design and Fashion Department from Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode on 16.08.2016. Our Final year UG, 24 students were participated and understand the idea used for “Fashion Illustration” with different strokes. The Faculty member S.P.Mythily, Asst.Professor of CDF was demonstrated the workshop. The students felt that was worthy & valuable and also get inspired with the various illustration techniques.

One Day Workshop on Floral Ornamentation
A One Day Workshop on Floral Ornamentation was organised by the Costume Design and Fashion Department from Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode on 16.08.2016. the resource person was our UG Alumni- K.Vanmathi. Our I-B.Sc CDF and II-B.SC CDF 39 students, I-M.Sc CDF and II-M.SC CDF 12 students were participated and practiced the method of floral string making with different floral knottings. The students get inspired with the techniques and it makes a platform to develop as an entrepreneur through boutique management.

Educational Tour
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a two days education tour for all UG & all PG nearly 50 students along with our faculty members R.Geethadevi, C.Divya & R.Suresh to COCHIN from 04.08.2016 & 05.08.2016 at KERALA. Education Tours are very important for the overall development of a student. It gives them an opportunity to learn from their own experiences and from the experience of others. When a student visits a historic place and learns about the history of that place, it feels as if he is seeing the historic events from his own eyes. We also learn from the mistakes that were done by historic characters.

Industrial Visit - Printing Unit
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised A ONE DAY INDUSTRIAL VISIT for UG II & III year students along with our faculty members P.Yamunadevi, R.Suresh & K.Abirami to JEEVA PRINTERS, Villarasampatti, Erode on 29.07.2016. They get an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about the field of printing techniques. It provides an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices.

A One Day Workshop on "Beauty Care" & "T-Shirt Printing"
A One day workshop on "Beauty Care" was conducted for UG and PG girls students and "T-Shirt Printing" for UG and PG boys was held on 15.07.2016 at our depatment. The beauty care session was crried out by Ms.K.ABIRAM, Asst.Prof of CDF and the printing was carried out by Mr.R.SURESH, Asst.Prof of CDF.

Certificate Course – 2017
Certificate programme on “Hand Aari Embroidery” at our department. 42 members of B.Sc CDF were participated in the duration of 30 Hrs. Different types of Hand Aari Embroidery Stitches were demonstrated by our department faculty members. This programme creates awareness among the students and motivates to become a business man during their course – that is earned while you learn method.

Certificate Course on TUKA-CAD Software 
Certificate Course on TUKA-CAD which includes TUKA DESIGN and TUKA-MARK SOFTWARE was organised by the Costume Design and Fashion Department, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode. The Resource person was Mr.S.Sathiyaraj from C-CUBE Technologies, Erode. Our B.SC CDF – 26 students, M.Sc CDF - 07 students were participated and practiced the tools and techniques in the software.

2015 - 2016
The Designer Contest – Fashion Attire’2016
On 26th February 2016, our Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organized The Designer Contest Function – FASHION ATTIRE’16 at our PG Seminar Hall. The 22members of Final year UG students and 05 students of First year PG students were participated and exposed their fashionable garments. The special address was given by DR.P.RAMYA, Head & Associate Professor in CDF Department, Nandha Arts and Science College, Erode. The Best Designer Award and The Best Creativity Award were won by our final year UG students Ms.C.Manimekala and Mr.K.Kathiravan.

Terracotta  Jewel Making Workshop – 2016
Department of Costume Design and Fashion has conducted a one day workshop “Terracotta Jewel Making” was held on 22nd February 2016 (Monday) at CDF department - Draping lab. The Resource person is Mrs.P.Nithya, from Mughil Art Gallery, Erode. This workshop was conducted for all the UG and PG students of CDF department. They learnt the easy methods and techniques of jewel making and clay baking. The students were participated curiously and prepared decorative Neck chains with pendant, Earrings, etc.  This workshop enhances the student’s creativity which will develop their co-curricular skills.

Industrial Visit - Knitting Unit – 2016
Our Department of Costume Design and Fashion has arranged a one day industrial visit on 19th February 2016 (Friday). Our II and III year UG students were visited the Agathiyan Knitting unit, Tirupur. The process of knitting was clearly explained by the knitters. The various parts and functions of the advanced circular knitting machines and its techniques were clearly shown to the students. The Faculty members Ms.S.P.Mythily, Ms.C.Divya and Mr.R.Suresh of Costume Design and Fashion Department were co-ordinated with them. 

Industrial Visit –Weaving Unit – 2016
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a one day Industrial visit for UG I & II year-39 students were taken to HANDLOOM WEAVING UNIT along with our CDF faculty members P.Yamunadevi, R.Suresh & B.V.Revathi on 10.02.2016 at Savakaattupalayam, Nambiyur. It provides the opportunity for active/interactive learning experiences in-class as well outside the classroom environment. Students become more aware of weaving and regulations during industry visits.

“Fashion Pradarsana’2k16” – Exhibition cum Sale
Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a one day Exhibition cum Sale – “Fashion Pradarsana’2k16”, which was held on 12th January 2016 at PG Department of Costume Design and Fashion, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode. Our students were participated enthusiastically and prepared variety of “hand craft products” which include accessories, ornaments, home furnishing items and articles, greeting cards and gift items.

Exhibition on Fashion Flash 2015
Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a Two day Exhibition– “Fashion Flash’2015”, which was held from 17-12-2015 to 18-12-2015 at Our Sewing lab, Printing lab & Draping Lab, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode. Our students were prepared hand-craft products from waste materials which include accessories, ornaments, home furnishing items and articles, greeting cards and gift items.

A State Level Workshop on Intellectual Art and Fashionova’15
Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a State Level Workshop on Intellectual Art and FASHIONOVA’15 on 23rd September 2015. In this workshop, our department has conducted 5types of competitions and Fashion show – FASHIONOVA’15 for other college students. In this programme more than 200 students from various colleges have participated and exposed their talents and creativities. It was a great opportunity for the students to present their own performance.

One Day Workshop on Fabric Painting – 2015
Department of Costume Design and Fashion has conducted one day workshop on “Fabric Painting” for our UG & PG students on 28th August 2015. M.Anusuya – Art and Craft maker from Tirupur, demonstrated and trained about the fabric painting and canvas painting in this workshop. It was a good platform to the students those who participated enthusiastically and made out their talents in their respective field.

Erode’s Expo Visit– 2015”
Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a one day Industrial visit for our UG- 65 & PG- 12 students along with our faculty members to attend the “ERODE’S EXPO – 2015” in Tex Valley on 6th August 2015 at Gangapuram, Erode. In this exhibition, National Level Manufacturers exhibited their textile achineries and demonstrated the working mechanism. It will be of great benefit for the success of student’s career and their subjective reference field.

2014 - 2015
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion Organized an Exhibition Cum Sale - FASHIONOVA on 21st and 22nd January 2014. The students exhibited their creative innovations in paintings and craft work. Students from various schools & colleges visited the exhibition.
 

Extension Activity on Fashion Illustration - 2018
An Extension Activity was organised by the Costume Design and Fashion Department from Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode on 03.02.2018. The 65 Girls students of XII-STD (Vocational Group), Government Girls Hr. Sec. School – Bhavani, Erode were participated and understand the idea used for “Fashion Sketching” with different strokes. The Faculty member R.Geethadevi, Asst.Professor & Head and 3 students namely G.L.Nanditha (II-M.SC CDF), S.Nivedhika (III-B.SC CDF) and R.Bharani of II-B.SC CDF were demonstrated the workshop. The school students felt that was worthy & valuable and also get inspired with the various illustration techniques.

An Extension Activity on “Mehandhi Designing
Our Department of Costume Design & Fashion organised An Extension activity on “Mehandhi Designing” for 2 Rural Self-Help Groups of Women - Vinayaga group and Thirupathi group at Puthuvelliyampalayam, Nathakkadaiyur, Tirupur held on 25.01.2018. it consists of 16 members and they learnt the easy way of mehandi designing methods through our II-MSC CDF students.
